WILKIN STATEMENT ON GOV. DEWINE’S EXECUTIVE ORDER

Shane Wilkin, a conservative Republican running for Ohio’s Second Congressional District, today released the following statement in response to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s Executive Order 2024-01D, which bans gender transition surgeries for anyone under the age of 18:
 
"While I agree with the governor’s order to prevent gender surgeries from being performed on minors, it fails to address the issues I voted for in House Bill 68 that protect our kids, specifically our young girls. Boys still shouldn’t be playing girls’ sports. Period.”
 
As a current state senator, Wilkin proudly supported passage of House Bill 68, which was vetoed by Gov. DeWine on December 29. You can read Wilkin’s statement on the veto here.
